It should be recalled that the “Selected Ancient Artifacts of Iran” exhibition, jointly organized by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Iran and four Iranian museums in collaboration with the Forbidden City Museum and Shanghai Museum, was first held in Beijing and then in Shanghai earlier in 2024, receiving significant responses from Chinese audiences and media.

This exhibition also features a collection of porcelain items used in the tomb of Sheikh Safi-ad-din Ardabili, depicting artistic and cultural exchanges between Iran and China in the past. The Xinjiang Journal reported that the Persian civilization, one of the world’s oldest civilizations with prehistoric culture and various dynasties such as the Achaemenids, Parthians, and Sassanids, has profoundly impacted the world. Moreover, historical Chinese texts referred to Iran as “Anxi” during the Han Dynasty and “Parsa” after the Northern and Southern Dynasties. According to the report, outstanding artifacts such as polychrome and patterned ceramic jugs, pots with golden lion motifs, and Chinese vases with floral and bird designs have captivated visitors and represent the rich cultural exchanges between Iran and China throughout history. He Jia, Secretary of the Party and Director of the Xinjiang Museum, stated: “We seek to address the cultural needs of the Xinjiang people and acquaint the world with the region’s history and culture through domestic and international exhibitions.” He added, “With closer collaboration with Iranian cultural heritage institutions, particularly in exhibition areas and the preservation of historical works, we will usher in a new era of cultural exchanges between the two countries.”

This exhibition, organized by the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Beijing, is set to continue until March 6, 2025, witnessing a significant presence of audiences and art and history enthusiasts from both countries.
